And so its time for my last blog post this year since i started blogging in june. It has been a fantastic year, i have made many new good friends and tons of cocktails! I want to thank you all who has inspired me and thought me so many things.

With this champagne cocktail i say Happy New Year to you all!

This cocktail combines gin and cachaca with pear syrup, fresh basil, apple juice and champagne.

1 oz cachaca
1 oz gin
0.5 oz pear syrup
0.4 oz lemon juice
1.5 oz apple juice
4-5  fresh basil leaves, teared
Champagne to top
Garnish pear slices and basil

Shake the ingredients except the champagne and pour into a tall fancy glass with cracked ice. Top with champagne and stir gently. Garnish with pear slices and fresh fragrant basil.

PEARSYRUP

1 pear, chopped, a few teared basil leaves, mixed with 1:1 water and raw sugar to make a syrup. Add to pan and heat it up, stir until the sugar is dissolved and let cool. Strain and bottle.

2 oz Tequila reposado
1 oz pineapple juice
0.5 oz fresh lime juice
¼  oz raw sugar syrup
Dash passionfruit syrup
½ barspoon grenadine
Crushed ice
Garnish clove studded carambola slice and a small mint sprig.

Shake everything except the grenadine. Strain and pour over sparkling fresh crushed ice, add a dash grenadine. Cut a slice of a carambola, place one clove in the middle and 5 at the each end of the star. Place on rim with a small mint sprig behind to add some fragrance and contrast in color. Read More »

This last thursday we had the joy of attending the first ever sponsored TDN, sponsored by Leblon cachaca.

Cocktailnerd and Rumdood participated in this TDN live from Trader Vics in Las Vegas mixing up the cocktails sent in by the online bar crowd with the bartenders at Vic’s, courtesy of Leblon cachaca. The chat room was packed the whole night. There were some interesting discussions on cachaca and cocktails with Gerry and Steve from Leblon, on-hand to discuss and answer questions and as usual there were lots of jokes and drink mixing. The best TDN i`ve attended so far, and i think i`ve been to all of them but i`m not sure.
